Fire-w is an application written in Scala that runs on most common operating systems, through VMware virtual machine, based on GNU / Linux . Looking in more detail, Fire-w consists of a database to store all the parameters of the various stages of the process of the controller, which every 10 seconds (configurable) interrogates a tiny server, which in this case, is a CPU board with Atmega328 and a web server to allow control via a Web browser.
Fire-w is able to manage through a proper USB network up to a maximum of 127 CPU boards. With appropriate additional modules, CPU cards can be managed through a LAN or via the ZigBee network.
CPU board is optically isolated to the side power and its power is
supplied from the USB port of your PC or derived from the USB network.
